Queens Guide . Duke of Edinburgh . Commonwealth . Community Safety
This is the highest award in Guiding and allows you to develop skills and have exciting new experiences, whilst contributing to Guiding and your community. It’s equivalent to the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award (and most of the clauses can count for both awards!) and as well as being great fun, is a fantastic thing to have on a UCAS form or job application!
It is open to members aged 16 to 25 and takes a maximum of three years to complete.
This is a popular award in the County and you will be supported by a mentor and the Queen’s Guide Award Adviser. There are also virtual catch-ups with other Queen’s Guide Award candidates every two months so that you can share your progress, keep each other motivated and make some new friends along the way.
To read more information on the award check out the GGUK website here.
An internationally recognised award which provides opportunities to try new things, make a difference and have exciting adventures, the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award is open to members aged 13 to 25. There are three levels:
– Bronze (Year 9 or above)
– Silver (Year 10 or above)
– Gold (Age 16+)
This is a prestigious award which is well-recognised by employers, colleges and universities around the world. It is also fantastic fun and provides an amazing sense of accomplishment. Recent participants from our County have hiked from the east to west coast of the Isle of Wight, volunteered at Poacher, learnt to speak BSL, explored Brownsea Island and walked puma cubs whilst volunteering at an animal sanctuary in Argentina!
You will be supported by the DofE Award Adviser. There are also virtual catch-ups with other DofE candidates every two months so that you can share your progress, keep each other motivated and make some new friends along the way, as well as doing some training and planning for your expeditions.
More information can be found here.
